Dr. Sharon L Paul, DNP, PMHNP-BC, known as “Dr. Paul,” is a doctor of nursing practice in psychiatric-mental health. Dr. Paul is a seasoned provider practicing for over 22 years. She moved from Michigan to Arizona in 2006 with exemplary academic preparation and clinical experience from Saginaw Valley State University, University of Michigan, and Rush Medical University.

While residing in Arizona, Dr. Paul has served individuals from all age groups with various types of psychiatric-mental health needs in clinics and hospitals throughout Maricopa County including Remuda Ranch, The Meadows, Arizona Children’s Association, and Southwest Behavioral Health.

To better serve her patients, Dr. Paul became interested in integrative and functional medicine for mental health, a revolutionary approach that treats the underlying causes of psychiatric symptoms that can lead to better outcomes towards recovery. Her interest in identifying underlying causes has turned into a passion that she incorporates in her practice for patients who are interested in a more robust approach to wellness.

It is important to Dr. Paul that her clients experience a patient-focused avenue unique to each person. Her extensive experience allows her to design a versatile treatment approach specific to your own customized needs, which includes the use of nutrition, reduction of toxin exposure, effective herbs and supplements, along with traditional pharmaceuticals to address mental health concerns associated with substance use, eating disorders, process addictions, anger issues, mood instability, anxiety, ADHD, impulse control, and psychotic symptoms.

Dr. Paul is committed to leaving a legacy to newly trained psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners who hold a passion for functional psychiatry to join her in providing comprehensive mental health care at Integra Mental Health in Surprise, AZ.

As a satisfied resident of the Grand Canyon State, Dr. Paul enjoys her time as a widowed mother of 4 adult children, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Her hobbies include organic gardening, cultivating herbal medicines, and exploring Christian studies.

Anne Bechard, MS, PMHNP-S, is a Nurse Practitioner in training for psychiatry and mental health. Over the last six years, her nursing practice has included experience in the specialties of behavioral health, integrated medicine, cardiology, surgical services, and acute care.

Her love of investigating the natural world and “what makes things tick” as a former wildlife biologist led her to a career transition into nursing, where she now explores what drives human brain health and mental fitness. As a graduate of University of Tennessee, Louisiana State University, and University of Texas, Anne is now pursuing a certification in integrated and functional medicine as a Functional Psychiatry Fellow at Psychiatry Redefined.

Being able to influence physical distress, but also address the metabolic dimensions of what causes tension & stress is at the heart of Anne’s motivation as a functional psychiatry provider.

“As a recovering perfectionist, I constantly invest in techniques that help me stay in a calm, empowered state.”

Having researched a multitude of self-regulating strategies, Anne focuses her attention on neuro-agility methods that rewire the brain to de-stress. Her use of brain wave modulation techniques have proven results in the areas of anxiety, stress, and insomnia.

Advocating for wellbeing in its entirety is foundational to Anne’s journey as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Her partnership with Dr. Paul has been pivotal in cementing her commitment to functional psychiatry and integrative medicine.

When she’s not at work, Anne enjoys hiking in the mountains, creating mixed media artwork, and road-tripping with her Tribe. She remains a veteran volunteer at wildlife sanctuaries and can occasionally be spotted behind a gumbo pot recreating her mom’s Cajun recipes.
